Health Systems and Services Research
Health systems research at the chair is dedicated to the description, analysis and comparison of health reforms in Europe. In health services research, the focus is on measuring the burden of disease on the population. Current focus areas include:
- Comparative analysis of health reforms in the EU: Building on an existing collaboration with the HSPM Network oft he European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, the Chair will engage in a systematic analysis of health reforms in EU countires. The focus will be on quantitative and qualitative analyses of successfully implemented and/or abandoned reforms.
- PopGroup project: development of a European population grouper: building on the PopGroup Project, which is ending in 2024, the Chair plans to engage in the development of a European population grouper in collaboration with colleagues from other EU countries. The aim ist o improve the measurement of population health needs and to increase transparency about different healthcare provision patterns for similar patient groups in different countries.
- Editor-in-Chief Health Policy: Wilm Quentin is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Health Policy. This provides the opportunity to initiate international debates on health policies, to define priorities (via Special Issues) and to bring together international researchers to shed light on current issues.
